    Mathematics for Educators (MME)

    About

WPI's Master of Mathematics for Educators (MME) program is tailored to mathematics educators who want to strengthen their content knowledge and develop engaging classroom activities. Designed for middle school and high school math teachers and community college instructors seeking an advanced degree, the master's in math education is flexible and streamlined. The math for educators program emphasizes advanced mathematics content, but its flexibility (allowing students to blend online and on-campus classes to fit their schedules) helps students fit an advanced mathematics degree into an already full schedule. Students have opportunities to develop materials for their own classrooms, to explore new technologies, and to develop an essential network of faculty members and peers. Pursue our master's in math education online or on-campus, whichever makes the most sense for your schedule. It's possible to complete the mathematics educators degree requirements entirely online by watching recorded class sessions and interacting with others through discussion boards. This program's tuition ($15,000) is considerably less than WPI's regular graduate tuition. Please note that WPI is not able to offer the on campus option to international students because this is a part-time program and doesn't meet visa regulations. Interested students may want to instead look at our other programs in the Mathematical Sciences Department. Students may complete two courses in each of three semesters per year and one 6-credit-hour project. With this schedule, program completion takes just over two years, but various schedules can be accommodated. Courses run Tuesday evenings from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Classes do not meet on weeks of public school vacations. Every effort is made to accommodate the varied needs of our students. Graduate Admissions
The MME requires 30 credit hours of work in advanced mathematics, including 24 credits in math content courses that will deepen your foundation in areas such as calculus, statistics, discrete math, geometry, and linear algebra. Advanced mathematics courses offer a mix of theory and applicationyou'll prove theorems but also explore interesting and unusual models and technologies. MME Courses
